How do you deal with quitting from your job?

Interesting question, and lately there’s a friend asking me this question. I gave some answers and convinced him not to quit. But today I resigned from my position after 5mins nice conversation with my boss and my boss’s boss. Actually I made the call under 5 seconds without hesitation. I’m not really patient these days. Sorry.

So I guess I am not extremely consistent in coming up my decision. But my friend, that’s not true, I’m very rational kinda of guy, even in bad situation. Although I don’t call quitting a bad situation at all these days, so please read on.

I was told by a very wise friend a while back, “Quitting can be best for everyone including you. It’s more about your perspective, for instance, if you look back at this moment ten year later from the future.” I still remember the conversation that we had before I quit my academic job.

Need or not need

The world is organized in such a way that is not black and white; to be frank, there’s no much right and wrong. It’s more like running in the mood that I categorize as “You are needed” or “You are not really needed” kinda of way. When you are needed, things would move to your direction very easily; and when you are not, things could drift to the other side much quicker than you can anticipate. I have been practicing this…
